TBR: July's Theme: BEACH

Greetings Stack Worms!!! It's that time of the month when I reveal my TBR theme! Now, I know I've struggled the past two months with reading, but I'm super excited for this month's books.  For July I'll be focusing on books that heavily feature water/ ocean/ beaches. So, these aren't "Beach Reads" sorry if that's what you were looking for. If you want to suggest some beach reads I'll see if I have 'em and try to fit them in.  Here is what I have planned (remember this is subject to change due to depression):  - Fury of the Orcas by Hunter Shea - The Deep by Rivers Solomon - Kill River by Cameron Roubique  - MEG: The Graphic Novel adapted by J.S. Earls I think I'll start with Kill River. I want an easier read right now. Or maybe MEG first. I'll think about it.  I did finish Gideon the Ninth, review will be up tomorrow. Toodles!

Bookish/Writing Updates

Greetings Stack Worms!  So, I've had an extremely rough week...so far that is. And it's only going to get rougher with my family reunion on Sunday. I failed to get the new position in chat. I came out to my grandpa and I'm not sure how it went. I STILL haven't heard anything back about my entry! My depression is kicking my fucking ass!  And I'm just going to call it now, I do not think I'll finish Gideon the Ninth this month. I'm not even 50 pages in. I'm sorry.  Anyway, moving on. I got some book mail that I'd like to share with you:  - The Razorblades in my Head by Donnie Goodman - They built a Gallows for You and Me (Splatter Western #10) by Cody Higgins - Local Haunts (A HorrorTube Anthology) Edited by R. Saint Claire  - Godzilla Monsters & Protectors issues #3 from IDW  But mostly I got a lot of movies in: - Spookies - Ice Cream Man - Uninvited  - Psycho Lovers - Dolly Dearest  - Six String Samurai All from Vinegar Syndrom  - ...

Amberlough by Lara Elena Donnelly

Greetings Stack Worms!  I finally did it! I finished Amberlough. It took me over two weeks. Now, that is not a reflection on the quality of the book at all. I have severe depression and it just happened to hit me harder this month. This is the reason why I say that my TBR for the month is subject to change. Mostly because reading is much slower at times.  Now I do still intend to read Gideon the Ninth by the time June ends. I'm hoping to have that review up at least by June 30th. Alright, let's get the triggers listed.  TRIGGER WARNINGS: - Homophobia (this comes from the Ospies who are the bad guys in the book) - Torture (again from the bad guys)  - Death - Drugs - Drinking - Sexual situations REPRESENTATION:  - M/M relationships - Polyamorous relationship (it's a tiny sub-plot but there in a good light)  SPOILER WARNING!! We follow three characters: Cyril, Aristide, and Cordelia, in the city of Amberlough during a time of political tension. They hav...

Bookish/Writing Update

Greeting Stack Worms!  Not much of an update. But I said I'd try to write at least once every week. I haven't gotten very far in Amberlough and it's almost the middle of the month. I know I usually start picking up around now, but I've been so tired lately. I just want to sleep all the time. Even now I'm nodding off. *sigh* Sorry.  There's been some drama in the Horror Writing Community this week. Janine Pipe @JaninePipe28 on Twitter, was wanting to compile an anthology of Cops vs. Monsters. The publisher of Burial Day Books Cynthia Pelayo @cinapelayo agreed to the printing. Both were attacked to the point that Cina is shutting down Burial Day Books and Janine is not moving forward with the project.  Now, I don't know what was all said, but I remember seeing Janine's post about the anthology idea. I wasn't big on it because I don't like cops, but I just moved on. My two cents didn't need to be put in about it. I figured there'd definite...

Piece it all Back Together by Feind Gottes

Greetings Stack Worms!  First I want to acknowledge that I got an ecopy of this book in exchange for a review, from Hellbound Books. I'm extremely honored and was ecstatic when I was asked to do so. Here is their website please go visit: http://www.hellboundbookspublishing.com/index.html. I love being able to support indie publishers.  I'd like to state that I did indeed enjoy this book. Despite some of the problems, I had with it. I gave it a 4 star on Goodreads, I'd say more like a 3.7 star, but Goodreads can't do decimals. Though I do think my complaints are minor, also it was a review copy that I received. I have no idea if some of the issues have been resolved in the final draft. Though I wish I could have put my two cents in. lol.  Let's get the nitty-gritty out of the way. TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR:  - Child abuse - CSA - Rape  - Insects - Animal abuse/ death - Racism -  Death or Dying - Excessive or gratuitous violence  - Blood  - S...
