Bookish/Writing Update

Greeting Stack Worms!

Not much of an update. But I said I'd try to write at least once every week. I haven't gotten very far in Amberlough and it's almost the middle of the month. I know I usually start picking up around now, but I've been so tired lately. I just want to sleep all the time. Even now I'm nodding off. *sigh* Sorry.

There's been some drama in the Horror Writing Community this week. Janine Pipe @JaninePipe28 on Twitter, was wanting to compile an anthology of Cops vs. Monsters. The publisher of Burial Day Books Cynthia Pelayo @cinapelayo agreed to the printing. Both were attacked to the point that Cina is shutting down Burial Day Books and Janine is not moving forward with the project.

Now, I don't know what was all said, but I remember seeing Janine's post about the anthology idea. I wasn't big on it because I don't like cops, but I just moved on. My two cents didn't need to be put in about it. I figured there'd definitely be plenty of people out there that would enjoy the anthology. And who was I to tell people what to read or write. I shrugged it off, but apparently, others couldn't just leave it at that.

But I want to write about it because I feel like not doing the anthology and shutting down the publishing company is just letting the assholes win. *sigh* I hope that after the hiatus Cina takes she'll rethink the decision. Also, Janine should move forward with her anthology idea even if Cina can't do it.

People need to grow up. Seriously, no one even knew how the cops were going to be represented. Recently, Daniel Greene published a book about cops as the protagonist, they weren't depicted in the whitest light and there wasn't this much backlash for him. So, what the hell? Is it because they're ladies? One which is of color? If that's the reason then these people are fucking horrible and deserve to proven wrong.

Anyway, I guess I can't say too much else. Definitely, nothing I say would change Janine and Cina's minds. Or if they'd even listen to me. I'm not even a published writer yet. Let alone, someone, they correspond with.

Moving on. I got a few books recently:

Better Together by Christine Riccio (B&N Exclusive Edition)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J,K. Rowling (Hogwarts House Edition: Slytherin) This, of course, is my very last purchase of Mrs. Rowling. I know I suck but I had it preordered some time ago. Just so you know, I do NOT support Mrs. Rowling and her terf views. She's a horrible bitch, that should be slapped by every LGBTQ+ person she comes across. I plan on making a donation to a trans charity in the same amount that I spent on the book, plus a little.

Goblin by Josh Malerman (Got it through Night Worms)

Beneath a Pale Sky by Philip Fracassi

I haven't heard anything back from Classic Monsters Unleashed anthology yet. This means I more than likely am going to get rejected. I've noticed a trend in picking. Those who are made to wait more than a couple weeks are the people getting rejection letters. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic about everyone who has been picked thus far, but I was really hoping this was going to be the one that finally got me published. Oh, well. My girlfriend commissioned me to write fanfiction for a character out of Fight Club. That's what I'm currently working on.

That's it for now. I'm going to go read for a bit and then probably sleep. Toodles!
