Heaven Official's Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu Vol. 2 by Mò Xiāng Tóng Xiù

 GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I'm reviewing Heaven Official's Blessing volume 2 by MXTX. It's easier to put the author's name like that sorry. I finished it last night around 11:50 pm. And I got to say, this book is like a nonstop roller coaster.

Let's just get into this.

Trigger Warning:

- Graphic Violence

- Self-harm

- Child abuse

- Physical assault

- Blood

- Religious Topics

- Profanity (but seriously if this is a trigger for you...then why are you reading my blog?)

- Gay Panic

SPOILER WARNING...DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xie Lian is summoned to the Palace of Divine Might by Jun Wu, the emperor of Heaven. To basically be scolded and sent on a new mission. That is after receiving a palace in the heavens as a gift by Big Daddy energy himself. Seriously, Jun Wu, is playing himself up as sort of a father figure, but we all know he's evil AF and has a toxic obsession with Xie Lian. You do know that right? I mean I'm not the only one that searched out spoilers...right? Anyway, Xie Lian (I say it like Julian in my head) travels w/ the wind master, Qingxuan and the ascended prince of Yong'an, Lang; to Ghost City. Where Hua Cheng sits waiting for his boyfriend to visit.

In Ghost City, our trio for the arc is searching for a captured/injured Heavenly Official sent by Jun Wu to infiltrate Hua Cheng's abode. They do come across a rather dirtied-up Ming Yi. After the Banyue arc, Hua Cheng found out that Ming Yi was a spy and imprisoned him for this reason. No undue harm came to Yi, so Xie Lian was quick to forgive. While Lang and Qingxuan wanted to fight. Trying to prevent the fight Xie Lian accidentally sets Hua Cheng's palace on fire and gets hurt in the process.

Hua Cheng, of course, blames himself for Xie Lian getting hurt. But in stopping the fight Lang found out that Xie Lian was the man that taught him the sword when he was a child and destroyed the royal family of Yong'an...or did he?! No, of course not. Xie Lian was just trying to take the blame for something done because he's okay with being the one hated. He's a bit upset at Hua Cheng for revealing the truth via the fourth calamity, Green Lantern Qi Rong. Or as Xie Lian knew him, cousin Rong-er (roughly translated as little sorry I think).

After all of this is revealed to Lang, he storms off after Qi Rong fled to hunt him down. Only for Xie Lian to find him later that night in his family's mausoleum. Where they argue and Xie Lian actually loses his temper, proceeding to beat Qi Rong to a bloody pulp. Before possibly making a killing blow, we are transported to the past during the utmost important celebration, where everything goes wrong.

Xie Lian is scolded for saving a boy from falling off a wall, which certainly would have meant his demise. But Xie Lian couldn't just not save a child of his people. For this act he is heralded by his people, so he sees that he was in the right for saving the child and stopping the parade. We see more of how Mu Qing, Feng Xin, and Xie Lian interacted before the shit hit the fan between them. The child (who is Hua Cheng if you haven't guessed yet) Hong-er is said to be cursed. Anyone that touches him will be doomed and while Xie Lian knows this to be true, he does not release the boy from his protection nor turns him away when in need. He wants to help the boy change his destiny in some way, even though he is chided for it, before being sent on walk-a-bout to mature.

LIKES:

- The gay moments

- the plot progression and learning more about Hua Cheng and Xie Lian's past

- More Mu Qing and Feng Xin

- The gore and fights

DISLIKES:

- the Pei's are assholes!!

- Qi Rong is fucking annoying, Gods I hope he gets better

- People are really ready to believe the worst of Xie Lian and he's spoken poorly of

Anyway, that's about it for now. I'm reading volume 2 of the Scum Villain's Self-saving System (which out of the three by MXTX is the weakest for me) currently. When I have that done, I'll review both volumes in the same post.

Have you read these books yet? Any Danmei? If you have let me know. Which ones are your favorite? Which would you recommend?

Toodles!
