YIKES!!! Books/Writing/Reading
GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm tired y'all. I'm achingly exhausted. I haven't written in a while here because I've been doing writing other wheres. My Count of Monte Cristo reimagining won't write itself. Don't get me wrong I love writing the story, it's just turning out more 'Historical Romance' than what I meant it to be. hehe 😌
I know that people are getting tired of retellings and reimaginings, but I think it's time for The Count of Monte Cristo to make a comeback and the best way to do that is get it back in the media. I'm a big fan of the book, movies, and anime. There are two manga books and I'm working on getting the comics. Oh, also, there are three volumes to Gankutsuo, which I have.
So, I'm trying to take elements from all this media to craft the story. Plus, keeping the story focused on The Count's view and not too many side plots. Currently, I've written 16k on top of 60k and I have scenes written that aren't in order yet, that equels over 20k. Am I trying to make this book as long as the original? Yes, I am.
Anyway, I got some books:
- A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske (Illumicrate Special Edition)
- Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross (Owlcrate Special Edition)
- The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (Fairyloot limited Edition)
- The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden (Fairyloot limited edition)
- The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden (Fairyloot limited Edition)
- Night Broken by Patricia Briggs
- River Marked by Patricia Briggs
- Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
- Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
- Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
- The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones
- The Scum Villain's Self-Serving System by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
- Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation by Mo Xian Tong Xiu
I'd say that's a pretty good haul and I'm getting more for Yule.
I have read two books so far; one was the art book for Goosebumps, second was Legend of the Christmas witch. They were super short. They were both okay. I had high expectations for Legend of the Christmas Witch and it sort of turned out meh, with good art.
