Wolf Moon by David Irons

Greetings Stack Worms!

This is an old review that I'm rather proud of, especially since the author himself liked it! I have it posted on my Goodreads, but I wanted to add it here as well. Now, this is from my theme TBR back in January and February which was Werewolf and I called Wolfuary. I know I'm not clever. Anyway, here it is.

I'm not great w/ summaries but let's get it out of the way, shall we? Firstly, I'll keep the top half as spoiler-free as possible.

In the future of 2083...one would say a motley crew (haha see what I did there? Yeah I know I'm not funny) of miners are hired to go asteroid digging for silver (hm I wonder if in a werewolf book that silver will be a Checkov's gun) when they get a distress call from a seemingly abandoned escape pod. Of course, they rescue said person from said pod, who's in extremely bad shape. Like dude shouldn't have a shape with how little there seemed to be left of him. They patch him up and try to head back to Earth. Once they reach the lit (ha) side of the moon, let's just say shiteth hiteth the fan-eth. People die (spoilers below on who) gloriously gory ass deaths and it's just a great time. Seriously. Read the f*cking book!!

Review and spoilers below:

WARNING SPOILERS DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT!!!

Also, please note, I swear like sailor spinning a tall tale. I don't like to censor myself. K thnx bye (not really please read my review?)!

Review:

Ok to be honest at first I wasn't really connecting to the character, but I liked the fact that there was a death in the opening chapter. Woot! But once we got on board, the characters Captain Hadley, Chiarella, Easterbrook (love this gal personally), and Norrington grew on me. Conway did NOT. I was begging for his death the moment he was introduced and luckily I got my wish. Because this bastard dies like a bitch! Tore up from the floor up (ok mainly he was just torn to pieces on the floor by a pack of hungry ass werewolves). So, the big twist, Conway's a dick (big surprise) and he sold the crew out to the company that hired them to bring in a SPACE WEREWOLF!

Oh did I not mention this book is about Werewolves IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCE!!!

Yeah, apparently the pack left Earth when technology became too advanced and there wasn't a way they could flourish (you know by eating humans). They landed on an asteroid on the glowing side of the moon and became what is known as Lycan. Real subtle. So, after Norrington dies after being cut in half, Chiarella gets his face eaten, and Easterbrook becomes escape pod wall decorating; Hadley decides to infect herself w/ werewolf blood, so she can get vengeance for her crew and herself.

Anyway, Conway takes over the ship, Hadley starts to transform, they land on Lycan (bc the werewolf that is currently captured in an escape pod reprogrammed coordinates to the Home asteroid to pick up his family) and Hadley lets her new family into the ship. They eat Conway and then Hadley piolets the ship to a nearby rescue ship and the werewolves eat everyone on board while Hadley takes them to Earth...to fuck up the humans and the greedy corporations that killed Earth's nature.

*screech* Wait, what? The werewolves win?!

YES! HELL YES!! FINALLY!!! WOOOOOOHOOOO!!!!

So, yeah I enjoyed this book. It was simple there isn't much that shocks you (except that awesome ending) but that's what I like about it. It's just a fun book that one could easily sit down and read in one day. Like I did.

Did I mention the gore? IT IS GLORIOUS!! So beautifully detailed and it just satisfies my little dark heart.

Thank you for reading! Toodles!
