South of Heaven by Erin Louis

GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I'm reviewing South of Heaven by Erin Louis. Before I get into the review I must first apologize to HellBound Books for taking so long to finish this book. I don't want to make excuses so I'll just say simply life became shit and I had a lot to deal with. However, I was asked to read this book for a review and feel guilty for taking so long. Again, my deepest apologies I will do better in the future. If you still want to work with me that is. I don't know if I can apologize enough so I'm just gonna get to the review.  I did give this book 4 stars on Goodreads. No, not because I'm kissing ass because I fucked up but because it was an enjoyable read. I'll let you know why it didn't get a full 5 stars in the trigger warning.  SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duh... TRIGGER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Christianity  -Catholicism  -Animal death (and it's fucking graphic) (immediately lose 1 star)  -God (yes, he is a ...

Dragonfall by L.R. Lam

GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I am reviewing Dragonfall by L.R. Lam.  I received an eARC, from NetGalley, a while back and started reading at the tail end of January. I thought the release date was March but I misread the date and instead, its release date is...today actually. May 2nd. So, I decided to wait to finish reading because I do SPOILER reviews. To review the book before the release date and giving spoilers felt rude. I had planned on finishing it at least 2 weeks ago but life and all.  I really loved this book. I gave it five stars on Goodreads and NetGalley. Unfortunately, it's getting lukewarm reviews. I really want this one to do well because of the subject matter. Oh, well, maybe I can convince some people.  Let's get into the review. We're back to how I usually format my reviews.  SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duh... TRIGGER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -There is some animal death but it's for food so meh -Dragon death -Queer representation (sadly ...

Hellbound Books' Anthology of Splatterpunk by Various

Image
GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goodreads says I finished this in a week but it actually only took 4 days. I read Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Why? Because I work the other days and I'm pretty tired after my shift. So, it always looks like I take longer than I actually do. This time I read Hellbound Books' Anthology of Splatterpunk. Again, I thank HBB for providing me the free ebook to review and for partnering with me!  I really love the artwork on this cover! I won't tell you which story it goes with (at least by my guess) because that would be spoiling the story and I haven't warned you about spoilers yet. That would be very rude of me. There are a whopping 24 stories in this anthology. And I like a lot of them I think. Not many two-stars and three out of five means I enjoyed the read. Just like last time this review will be a bit different and probably much longer than usual with 24 stories to go through. But I hope you enjoy. Let's get going!  SPOILERS!...

The Amityville Murder House by Andy Rausch

GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!! Whew, boy! I'm going to be in trouble for this one.  First I want to say Thank You to HellBound Books for the free ebook to review. I always appreciate it when HBB reaches out to me to review one of their books. Sure not all are winners, but I'm still grateful for the opportunity. Again, Thank you!!  Unfortunatley... I really fucking HATED this book! It pissed me right the fuck off! I know that on Goodreads the book has great ratings and the author is highly rated themselves, which is why I hesitated about my feelings on this one. I thought maybe I was missing something, but then I hit the second part of the book and saw promise. Which was dashed by the ending. *sigh*  When I started this blog I promised that I'd give my honest opinion no matter how harsh that might be. So, I'm sticking to my guns on this one. Sorry, HBB. Love you!  Alright, let's get into it. This is my review of The Amityville Murder House by Andy Rausch....

HellBound Books' Anthology of Science Fiction by Various

Image
GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, this took me about a week to read. Apologies I've been sick. Thank you HellBound Books for providing me the ebook! I always, enjoy working with HBB even if I don't end up liking what I read. P.S. This will be a long review. Now, if the title wasn't clear, this is an anthology of Sci-Fi short stories. 13 to be exact. And I want to be completely honest here, I wasn't sure if I should've taken HBB on their offer. Two reasons: 1 I am not the biggest Sci-Fi fan and 2 I'm not the biggest anthology reader. Let alone reviewed one. But I decided to go for it because I want to challenge myself this year to read more outside my comfort zone and this seemed like a great starting place. This format will be a little different from my usual reviews because it is an anthology. I will give a summary of all the stories and what I thought about them individually before giving my big Thoughts at the end. So let's get to the rev...

KAIJUARY: The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

Image
GREETINGS STACK WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I'll be reviewing The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi, which took me a while to read. Not because it's long, but because I got a lot of ebooks from NetGalley to review before release. Don't worry I'll finish Kaijuary. I only have two books left on the agenda and one is a manga. Trust me, I'll get it done...after I read another ebook. lol  KPS came out a year ago and there wasn't a time that this book wasn't hyped. At least not from what I remember. It seemed that everyone was swept up in the kaiju fandom and salivated at getting their hands on this book. As much as a fan of Godzilla, kaiju, and tokusatsu I was unsure about reading it. I had never read John Scalzi before but now that I have I'm going to be checking out more of his books.  Let's get started... SPOILERS!!! DUH... TRIGGER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Rich assholes being Rich assholes  - Goo  - Gore - Death  - Profanity  - Capitalism...
